How I Treated My Eczema Organically

I want to share with you guys how I organically treated my eczema. I know everyone may not be able to relate to this post because not everyone has eczema, psoriasis, or other skin issues, however this may be able to help you if you get a rash, a bug bite, poison ivy etc. because the
stuff I used is pretty universal for skin care.  These products can help solve many issues and if they can solve the toughest of skin problems (my eczema) then I'm sure they'll also be able to help with less severe problems.  (I'm not claiming that this will treat your eczema or other skin conditions, I'm just sharing what worked for me).

I will start by saying that in the past I have used steroids to treat my eczema and that has worked great and help get rid of my "break out," (like psoriasis, eczema isn't curable, just treatable/manageable).  But over time I got tired of always using such harsh products on my skin (because of the amount of "break outs" I'd get I have a constant prescription for the steroid ointment).  Not only did I get tired of using the steroids (they lower your immune system, cause weight gain) I got pregnant! Though my doctor did ok the steroids, I personally did not feel comfortable using them while pregnant.

Before I get to the next part I just want to explain to you guys how bad my eczema was.  I had raised red bumps all over my legs and arms.  They were incredibly itchy, and even after using steroids they scared my skin.  It was definitely what I would consider "bad" eczema that was triggered by the dry, cold, environment that I used to live in.

I then decided to try essential oils after doing some research.  I began mixing lavender and tea tree oil with a carrier oil (either coconut oil or almond oil).  While this worked great at removing my itch temporarily, after about an hour (after it had absorbed into my skin) I would get itchy again! **

One night at work, (while I was complaining about my itchy, gross skin!) a co-worker recommended neem oil.  I had never heard of it but I liked the idea of trying another oil.

The next day, I picked up some neem oil from the health foods store and mixed it in with the lavender, tea tree, and coconut oil.  I was originally going to only mix this and the coconut oil together until I opened the neem oil.....this stuff reeks!!!!!! It smells like a mix of garlic and peanuts (just how I want to smell!).  So I had to mix in the lavender and tea tree oils as well since those both have very strong smells that diluted the smell of the neem.

I put on my mixture before going to bed and woke up the next morning incredibly surprised; my eczema looked exactly the same as it did when I used to use the steroids.  The swelling had gone down completely and most of the redness was gone.  I was no longer itchy and it seemed as if the neem oil actually cured my eczema.  After several nights more of applying this my eczema break out disappeared completely.  Then whenever I would start to feel a break out coming on in the future I

immediately put this mixture on and it helped halt its onset.

After finding neem oil, I would never use steroids for my eczema again.  Neem works great for all kinds of skin issues; it's actually recommended for acne (if you can stand the smell on your face!).  I hope you guys try this out if you have any kind of skin problem from eczema to psoriasis to rashes, bug bites, and acne! (Apparently, this also works as a natural pesticide, just like tea tree I guess the bugs can't stand the smell!).  Let me know if you guys try this out and share your experiences with me!

You can order these products online through The Vitamin Shoppe or you can also find them in your local health food/organic store!

**Make sure you get an ok from your doctor about using essential oils while pregnant!
