BH Cosmetics Take Me to Rio Palette

This is the second palette I wanted to review that's at a more affordable price.  It's the BH Cosmetics Take Me to Rio Palette and it retails on BH for $19.95 (but is often on sale for under $10!)

The Palette comes with 30 eyeshadows both matte and shimmer.  They are all bright colors with a pearly highlight shade and an eyeliner shade on the bottom.

First what I like about this palette is the packaging and the colors.  The front of the palette has an awesome "carnival" type theme to it and it just looks pretty in my collection! (has anyone ever been suckered into buying just because of the packaging?? Happens to me all the time! ) The palette is sturdy and has a magnetic closure.  I love the variety of colors in this palette and the variety of finishes.  For every color of the rainbow there's a matte and shimmer finish which offers great versatility.

Now the actual eyeshadows...I was a little disappointed with the pigmentation of them.  To get the swatches in the picture I had to swatch several times.  So unfortunately the pigmentation and the color payoff isn't quite what I'd hoped for.  However they are build-able so it would just take some time to build them up to the color you wanted. They are a little hard to blend just because you have to go over everything several times since they aren't incredibly pigmented.  The matte shades are a little powdery/chalky while the shimmery shades have a nice sheen without having any obnoxious chunky glitter.  The staying powder is average and of course can be pro-longed with primer.

Some people have been comparing this to the Urban Decay Electric Palette.  While it is not a dupe for the palette the colors are more neon than the picture shows and it offers an affordable option to that palette.  If you are the kind of person who wears color on an everyday basis I'd say splurge and go for the electric palette because those colors have incrrredible payoff and are some of the most unique I've seen.  On the other hand if you only wear bright colors every once and a while, or on special occasions I'd say give the BH Take Me to Rio Palette a try (plus you can't go wrong with a sale price of ($9.95!).

I only swatched a few colors for you guys just so you can see the texture and color payoff. If you have this palette or get it let me know what you think and show me the looks you guys come up with!
