Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full Coverage Foundation Review

This is one of my favorite foundations!  Basically I'm going to explain to you guys why I love this stuff and why it has been an HG product for me. (Can't you tell, I've squeezed the life out of that tube!)

1. The coverage:  it's build-able!  I  have freckles and I can still see my freckles when I apply this lightly. If I'm going for a more full coverage look you can easily build it up without it looking cakey at all.

2. The Finish: This will give you a very natural finish. It's not incredibly dewy but not matte either. It's mimics natural, healthy skin perfectly.  The texture is a moose/cream consistency and when applied, it seems to blend right into the skin.

3. The adaptability: The Amazonian clay in this foundation makes it very versatile.  It claims to moisturize dry skin and control oil in oily skin.  I have incredibly oily skin and can attest to the fact that this does control shine.  I do set this with a setting powder which gives it even more staying power.  I do believe that this is better at oil control vs moisturizing dry skin because I've read a few reviews with people claiming that it dries their dry skin.  It claims to last for 12 hours and I'd say that that depends on where you are and what you're doing.  If I'm inside all day this definitely last beyond 12 hours for me but if I'm in the heat or outside, after about 4 hours I will notice some shine starting to come through.  Despite that, I like this foundation because it gives a coverage and finish that I like and my shade (medium tan honey) matches my skin perfectly.

They have a very wide selection of shades and since it has become a relatively popular foundation they have expanded their shade selection over the past years.  The price comes in at $38 at Sephora  which seems to fall in the median price range of products at Sephora.  Because the foundation is considered full coverage it's pretty pigmented meaning a little goes a long way so the 1.7oz will last you quite a while (has lasted me over a year!). Forgot to mention that Tarte is a natural brand with products that eliminate any harsh chemicals from their products.  This is especially great for people with sensitive skin, pregnant women, or anyone looking to use products on the more natural side!
